Author Guidelines
1. ARTICLE WRITING STANDARDS
Any article submitted to ETUDES MALIENNES must have a maximum length of 9,000 words (characters and spaces) and must include in the introductory position a relevant and precise title, the identity of the author, their email address and their institution of origin. In addition, two summaries of approximately 250 words each, one in French and the other in English, and 5 relevant keywords (in French and English) are required. The articles are first examined by the editorial office who decides whether or not to offer them to anonymous readers.
In light of readers' observations, the editorial committee meets to decide what action to take on the text: acceptance, request for modification, rejection. The decision of the editorial committee is sent to the author accompanied by a summary of the editorial committee's discussions. For texts intended for publication, the editorial committee reserves the right to make modifications relating to the form. Substantive modifications are made in collaboration with the authors who will in all cases receive the version proposed for printing.
2. GENERAL STRUCTURE OF THE ARTICLES
The journal ETUDES MALIENNES aligns with the editorial standards of CAMES, the substance of which is as follows: the structure of a scientific article in letters and human sciences is as follows:
- For an article which is a theoretical and fundamental contribution: Title, First and last name of the author, Home institution, email address, Abstract in French, Keywords, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction (justification of the theme, issues, hypotheses /scientific objectives, approach), Articulated development, Conclusion, Bibliography.
- For an article resulting from field research: Title, First and last name of the author, Home institution, email address, Abstract in French, Keywords, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Bibliography. - The articulations of an article, with the exception of the introduction, the conclusion, the bibliography, must be titled, and numbered by numbers (examples: 1.; 1.1.; 1.2.; 2.; 2.2 .; 2.2.1; 2.2.2.; 3.; etc.).
♦ Typographic standards
The articles are composed on a WORD word processor, Times New Roman font, font size 12 justified and line spacing 1.15. They must not contain any underlined characters. Paragraphs begin with an indent of 0.50 cm. There are no spaces between paragraphs or after headings and subheadings.
♦ Footnotes, maps, photographs, graphs and tables
Footnotes will be used to add personal information or comments and should be written in Times New Roman, font size 10, single spaced. They respond to continuous numbering for the entire article. Maps, photographs, graphs and tables must be numbered and their sources must be specified at the bottom. It is recommended, for logistical reasons, to reduce the number of maps, photographs, tables and complex figures as much as possible.
♦ Citations and bibliographic references
The cited passages are presented in roman and in quotation marks. When the quoting sentence and the quotation exceed three lines, you must go to the line, to present the quotation (line spacing 1) in roman and indented, reducing the font size by one point. Citation references are integrated into the citing text, as appropriate, as follows: In parentheses: Name of author(s), year of publication, page number.
Example: The well-known “joking alliance” between Tarawure and Jara only applies to the Noka (Bâ and Daget, 1962: 120).
The bibliographic references will be arranged at the end of the article, in alphabetical order of authors, for each author in chronological order.
